Nation’s Most Prominent Polo Facility to Host Premier Croquet Competition

(IPC) has announced that the 2010 Third Annual International Croquet Tournament will take place Feb. 17-21.  Eight internationally-ranked players from the Unites States, England and Canada will compete for $7,500 in total prize monies, the largest purse worldwide.  As the most prominent polo facility in the nation, IPC is home to the ultimate mix of competitive sport, sociable, lively atmosphere and long-standing tradition.

“Croquet, like the game of polo, is an addictive game of skill and strategy,” said John Wash, President of Club Operations.  “We are incredibly excited to host the third annual croquet tournament and welcome an international mix of competitors and fans for another exciting competition at IPC.”

“The top conditions at IPC give this competition global appeal,” said Don Jacobson, tournament director and organizer.  “Many of the players I speak with are hard pressed to find a superior venue anywhere in the world.”

Croquet has been traced back as early as the 1300s, evolving over the centuries as a high-class sport.  Today, croquet continues to gain popularity as both a competitive game and social pastime, attracting the likes of hip hop mogul Sean Combs, socialites Paris and Nicky Hilton, musician Randy Jackson and actor Ben Stiller.

Admission to the 2010 Third Annual International Croquet Tournament is free.  For more information, please visit www.internationalpoloclub.com.
