The British Forces Foundation at IPC Palm Beach
BFF & USO Team Up
January 22, 2008
WELLINGTON , FL –The polo team from Great Britain will again descend upon International Polo Club Palm Beach to play a USA team in a benefit polo match for the British Forces Foundation Sunday, January 27 at 12 noon followed by the finals of the NAPL Joe Barry Memorial Cup at 3:00 pm .
In its fourth year, this polo game and auction will help fund morale-boosting shows for British and American servicemen and women all over the world. The British Forces Foundation has now teamed up with the USO to produce these shows later this year.
“People have often asked us why we fund-raise in America ,” said The BFF's Director Mark Cann, “because we have always included American troops in our projects – whether it is the jungles of Sierra Leone , the streets of Kosovo or the deserts of Afghanistan and Iraq .”
“However, the USO has asked The BFF – with its reputation for contacts, expertise and for overcoming whatever obstacles may be thrown in its way – to team up to deliver some specific projects later this year for American servicemen and women.”
This very important project is only made possible by public donations – and the polo benefit match at IPCPB is key to raising vital funds. The BFF has put together an exceptional and varied collection of items for its silent auction to be held following the game on Sunday.
Auction items this year include an ‘English Experience' with a London Ball and high goal polo at the country's oldest club; dinner with former Prime Minister Baroness Thatcher followed by a charity polo day at the world-famous Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. There's even a ‘Mystery Experience' courtesy of The BFF's Mark Cann which will be tailor-made for the successful bidder based on when they wish to visit the UK .
Other interesting items include framed and autographed pictures of Charlie Chaplin, Richard Burton, and Diana, Princess of Wales, plus a mounted photograph of former President Gerald Ford complete with his signature, and much more.
