April 11, 2008

WELLINGTON, FL– The International Polo Club Palm Beach recently spiced things up with a Cajun-themed fundraiser for the Curing Children's Cancer Foundation. International Polo Club founder John Goodman and his wife Carroll, along with John's brother Greg, and his wife Becky, hosted the event under the Ocean Drive Grand Marquee, which featured authentic New Orleans cuisine, including more than 300 pounds of crawfish, boiled shrimp jambalaya, hurricanes and music by the Zydeco Dots.

Special guests included Dr. David Poplack, head of pediatric oncology at Texas Children's Cancer Center, CCCF board members Rob Ferguson and Ned Torian and Jay Comeaux, the executive director of the Stanford Financial Group. Mr. Comeaux is also a polo player and entertained guests as he played in a four-chukker exhibition match with members of John Goodman's Isla Carroll team.

The complimentary Goodman family Bayou bash was held to raise awareness and funds for the Curing Children's Cancer Foundation, which provides financial support for some of the country's leading pediatric cancer researchers, including those at Texas Children's Cancer Center. The results of the cutting-edge research are disseminated nationally and internationally, and benefit children throughout the world.

“We are committed to helping physicians and researchers discover a cure for children's cancer,” said John Goodman. “Carroll and I have seen the remarkable impact this research is having on children with cancer. With this event, we are hoping others will contribute to this fund so that we can help the doctors who are making significant progress toward the ultimate goal of finding a cure for every child afflicted with cancer.”
