LECHUZA CARACAS BEATS ORCHARD HILL IN BUTLER SEMI

WELLINGTON, FL – The semifinal round of the Butler Handicap at International Polo Club Palm Beach got underway today with Lechuza Caracas soundly defeating Orchard Hill 17-9.

Lechuza again played with its lineup change by adding Sapo Caset an eight goal rated player and Guille Aguero rated at seven in place of the Merlos brothers, Pite and Sebastian rated at nine and 10. The move paid off as they took their three goal handicap difference into the first chukker and quickly added four goals to take a commanding 7-1 lead. Throughout the contest Orchard Hill continued to try to fight back but with every goal they scored Lechuza had an answer before finishing the game eight goals ahead 17-9. Caset led his team with nine and Aguero added four of his own. Orchard Hill's Lucas Criado and Jeff Hall each scored three in the defeat.

Semifinal action of the USPA Piaget Gold Cup will begin on Wednesday, March 19 as Crab Orchard will take on Las Monjitas at noon and Skeeterville will face Black Watch at 3 p.m. at the International Polo Club Palm Beach.

The other semi-final game in the Butler will be played Thursday, March 20 between Audi and White Birch. The Butler Handicap is a USPA sanctioned tournament played between the four other teams who competed in the playoff rounds of the Gold Cup. The Butler Family offered this coveted trophy to International Polo Club Palm Beach in honor of Paul Butler whose Oak Brook Polo Club outside Chicago, Illinois provided high goal polo in the fifty's, sixty's and seventy's. This coveted cup was played as a national tournament for 31 years The Butler Handicap Final will be played Sunday March 23 prior to the USPA Piaget Gold Cup Final.

International Polo Club Palm Beach is located at 3667 120 th Avenue South in Wellington and hosts professional polo tournaments until April 20.
