International Polo Club Palm Beach Participates in Palm
Beach County Convention & Visitors Bureau Meeting
Planners Event
Wellington, FL –July 15th - International Polo
Club Palm Beach, the premier polo club in the United
States, recently participated in the prestigious Meetings
Planners International pre-conference, “VIP-24-Hours:
“The Best of Everything,” Palm Beach-style
at the Palm Beach Convention Center on Saturday, July
9.
The
elite professional organization of Meetings Planners
International descended on South Florida for their annual
conference from July 10-12 at the Miami Beach Convention
Center.
International meeting planners and guests were entertained
by a gallery of memorable, highly interactive signature
vignettes, including a polo pony, equipment, jerseys,
and the prestigious U.S. Open trophy from the Polo Hall
of Fame, along with a plethora of information about
the sport. Arriving guests entered the Convention Center
with impressive fanfare, as dramatic divas from the
Palm Beach Opera performed arias from famous acclaimed
operas, and they sipped champagne and enjoyed delicious
hors d’ouevres.
“It was a wonderful opportunity for the top meeting
planners and travel professionals to see the variety
of sporting and leisure activities available in Palm
Beach County,” said International Polo Club General
Manager Michael C. Brown. “Polo is a sport that
can be enjoyed by everyone. The sport is a unique blend
of athleticism, beauty and lifestyle.”
The third season of world-class high-goal polo at International
Polo Club Palm Beach begins on Sunday, January 15, and
concludes with the prestigious Stanford Financial Group
U.S. Open Championship final on Sunday, April 23. The
club will host five high-goal tournaments over 15 weeks,
including three 26-goal events, the highest-rated tourneys
in the United States. The 26-goal tournaments are the
Hall of Fame Cup, the C.V. Whitney Cup and the Stanford
Financial Group U.S. Open Championship. At least 20
high-goal teams are expected to participate during the
2006 season, enhancing International Polo Club’s
reputation as the most competitive high-goal club in
the country.
Among the world’s top players expected to play
during the 22-goal and 26-goal seasons are 10-goalers
Mariano Aguerre, Javier Novillo Astrada, Miguel Novillo
Astrada, Mike Azzaro, Carlos Gracida, Bautista Heguy,
Pite Merlos, Sebastian Merlos and Adam Snow. Nine-goalers
Milo Araujo, Eduardo Novillo Astrada, Lucas Criado,
Paco de Narvaez, Memo Gracida, Pepe Heguy, Agustin Merlos,
Gonzalito and Facundo Pieres are also expected to play.
As the first new polo club to be built in decades begins
its highly anticipated third season, International Polo
Club Palm Beach has fulfilled a long-standing void for
a facility dedicated solely to high-goal professional
polo. It holds the distinction as the site of the historic
100th U.S. Open Championship in 2004 and will host that
prestigious event through the 2007 season.
The Palm Beaches and Wellington have long been polo’s
international winter home. Most of the world’s
best players will participate in an impressive series
of tournaments at International Polo Club Palm Beach,
which attracts numerous glamorous guests and celebrities.
The public facilities include a state-of-the-art stadium
with seven world-class polo fields, each spanning an
area larger than nine football fields, as well as viewing
stands and elevated box seating for more than 1,300
spectators.
The club is a perfect venue for small and large groups
who want to experience polo up close, according to Brown.
Groups will be able to enjoy polo in VIP designated
areas on Sundays or arrange their own personal match
or exhibition, based on availability, according to Brown.
The club also provides full-service catering to enhance
the experience.
International Polo Club Palm Beach is located at 3667
120th Avenue South, between Pierson Road and Lake Worth
Road in Wellington. For information, directions, or
