Louie
Bartoletti, General Manager of the Wellington Golf & Country Club, is anticipating
an excellent season because of Goodmans passion for the community. He explained
to the Chamber members that Goodmans purchase has allowed the golf club
to improve in many ways, on and off the golf courses. Among the improvements are
new tee boxes on the par-3s, four new pool heaters, new carpeting in the clubhouse
as well as new linens and china for the dining areas. Bartoletti also told the
Chamber that the club is available for weddings, family celebrations and meetings
of all sizes and their goal is to provide the best service possible. Pickens
described the first-class amenities at International Polo Club and explained to
the crowd that the facility is available to host a variety of events. Pickens
announced that the club will be hosting Golfcart Polo as a Chamber
event in January. International Polo Club Polo Manager Jimmy Newman then explained
that a polo player will drive the golf cart to get them hopefully
to the ball, where they will try to hit it. There are three players per team on
a field about the size of a football field, which is much smaller than a polo
field. Wellington Golf & Country Club, a semi-private club, is open
to the public. For tee times or membership information, please call (561) 795-3510.
Wellington Golf & Country Club is located at 1900 Aero Club Drive.
The 2006 high-goal polo season begins on Sunday, January 15 at 3 p.m. at International
Polo Club Palm Beach, the premier club in the United States. For information,
